Where we work: life outside the bubble

For some in our community, the inner city is not just where they work, but also where they live, where they shop, where they do their recreation and essentially where they spend much of their lives. With average incomes 50% above the metro average and real estate prices often double the metro median, the inner city is increasingly a place of privilege: home to well paid professionals, senior government bureaucrats, captains of industry, heads of media, opinion leaders and champions of various causes. It is easy to fall into the trap of believing that the inner city truly is the centre of the universe.
